A fascinating behind the scenes tour of this iconic location

The 67-acre King's Cross site, once derelict industrial railway land, is now one of Europe's largest urban regeneration projects. The transformation was a direct response to the area's decline and the arrival of the Eurostar at St Pancras in 1996. Guided by a masterplan focused on high-quality public space, the redevelopment has revived this historic transport hub, balancing heritage with modern design.

Key landmarks and features
King's Cross Station: The beautifully restored Victorian façade stands alongside the stunning new Western Concourse, a steel and glass dome that is a modern architectural icon.

Granary Square and Central Saint Martins: This public square features 1,080 choreographed fountains and faces the Granary Building, a converted warehouse that is now home to Central Saint Martins art college.

Coal Drops Yard: A unique retail and dining destination housed in two repurposed Victorian coal sheds, featuring a distinctive "kissing" roof design by Thomas Heatherwick.

Gasholder Park: A circular park on the canal, enclosed by a restored Victorian gasholder frame, repurposing industrial heritage for leisure.
Pancras Square: The corporate heart of the development, home to major companies like Google and Meta.

The project has created a vibrant, mixed-use neighbourhood with a strong focus on sustainability and placemaking, turning a forgotten piece of London into a dynamic destination.
